Halloween is Here!

Dear Parents,

We had two great weeks learning about fall and Halloween,  We talked about the seasons and learned that fall comes after summer. We also learned that  in the fall it gets darker, colder and the leaves change color.  People pick apples & pumpkins and winter will be starting soon.

The children had so much fun decorating the pumpkins.  They used shredded paper for hair, and wiggly eyes & jewels for the face.  In addition, we made a colorful pumpkin by gluing crayons onto it and then I used a hairdryer to melt the crayons onto the pumpkin. We also created pumpkin puppets by decorating paper shaped pumpkins.  We used markers, googly eyes and accordion shaped paper for arms and legs.

We ended last week by making delicious pumpkin cookies.  The children really enjoyed the experience of baking.

This week we prepared for our holiday celebration by creating hand print ghosts and foot print witches.  We had the children make scary faces and took pictures of them.  We then added their pictures to the ghosts.

We had a special visitor this week, "The Mad Scientist."  He had all the child entertained with his cool science projects.  He made smoke and bubbles and kept the children engaged the entire time. Also, the teachers enjoyed it so much that they were sad when it ended. We could have watched this scientist for hours!

We concluded our week by having a fabulous Halloween parade.  The children looked so adorable in their costumes.  I am sure you will all agree. They decorated pumpkin cookies with frosting and sprinkles, mmm..., were they good! We also made Halloween puppets - ghosts, princesses, witches, and lions, etc.  We all had so much fun at our party.

Notes:
~ The Parent Conferences will be on Tuesday, November 4th.  Please remember to sign up for one, if you have not done so already.

~Please make sure that your children have a full set of extra clothes in their cubby.

~ Please send in warm clothes with your child.  It gets very cold in the playground.

Happy Halloween!

Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara
