"Beary Good Week!"

Dear Parents,

We had a "beary" good week.  We enjoyed bringing our bears, dogs, cats, rabbits,  and birds to class and taking them to the "Animal Hospital." Some of them had ear aches, broken legs, and others had their annual physicals.  We used our language skills to get a complete medical history on our animals.  We put a splint on a bear with a broken leg and administered shots to sick dogs.  One animal had an accident and got completely covered with bandages. The children also had fun making doctor/nurse bags.

We enjoyed listening to stories with animal characters such as:
Who do you Love,? Carl, and My Friend Rabbit.

On Thursday we had a visit from Geddy (Bonne's bird).  I think Geddy had almost as much fun talking and singing for the children as they did watching him.  Did you know, according to bird experts, some parrots have the reasoning skill of a three year old child?  I am not sure if this is true but, it only took Geddy two weeks to learn how to put a ball into a basketball net.  Geddy is twenty-three years old and is expected to live another seventy five years.

After seeing what a parrot looks like, the children made their own version of a bird.  They decorated it with markers, feathers, and added eyes to it.  The birds look adorable hanging on our classroom windows.

We had another special visitor this week, Olaf  (from the movie Frozen).  The children had a great time dancing and playing with Olaf.  Each child had the opportunity to have their picture taken with him.

Next week our theme will be "Music to our Ears."  We will be making our own hand-made instruments.

Love,

Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara
