We have been very busy for the past two weeks preparing for our art show. The children have been creating masterpieces inspired by Vincent van Gogh and Wassily Kandinsky. One of our favorite art projects was making our hand-shaped trees with colorful circles (Kandinsky). The children then created the "Starry Night" by drawing swirls with crayons, painting over them with watercolors, and adding gold stars. They also painted van Gogh's famous vase filled with sunflowers.
The children also replicated Kandinsky's famous concentric circles, by drawing circles around plastic cups and then baking them in the oven for four minutes. We then flattened them out with a spatula. The results were magnificent!
Finally, the children built their own sculptures by stringing foam shapes onto pipe cleaners and inserting them into a styrofoam cube.
We wish everyone a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter!
We look forward to seeing everyone at our school-wide Art Show on Sunday, April 12th from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.
Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara
