Happy Holidays!

Dear Parents,

We continued to work on our holiday unit.  We all worked together to create a gingerbread house. We decorated it with gum drops, peppermint candy, and candy canes.  The children enjoyed decorating the house as well as eating it.

On Tuesday Barrie, Nina's mother, came into the classroom to teach the children about Kwanzaa.  She read a book called My First Kwanzaa, by Karen Katz.  She then had the children decorate a page with a Kinara, which is made up of seven candles, three red,
one black and three green .  Thank you to Barrie for the informative lesson on Kwanzaa and for a donating a Kwanzaa book.

On Wednesday the children made dreidels with marshmallows, pretzels, and Hershey Kisses.  They not only looked adorable but they tasted great.  One child got so excited about the dreidels that he ate his before he even finished making it.

Finally, we had a school-wide song festival.  The children did a great job singing.  I am sure you will all agree.  We continued our holiday celebration by eating potato latkes, cheese cake, brownies, and delicious dipped strawberries.  We hope you all had fun at our celebration.
On Friday we ended the week by celebrating Felix's fourth birthday.  Happy Birthday Felix! Thank you to his family for the delicious cupcakes.  The children all enjoyed them.
We wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year.

We look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday, January 5th.

Love,

Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara
