WINTER IS HERE!

Dear Parents,

We learned all about the winter season this week.  We now know that it comes after fall.  Some of the things we observed outside, were: it is very cold, the trees have lost their leaves, and the ground is covered with snow.

We celebrated winter by reading Snowballs, by Lois Ehlert. After reading the book, we talked about the different types of snow people we saw in the book.  Each child chose the one they wanted to create.  Some of the children chose, snow dogs, snow cats, snow dads, snow moms, and snow girls.  The children had so much fun choosing among the various items such as raisins, popcorn chocolate chips, buttons, straws and yarn.  They might have eaten some of the popcorn and raisins while they were making their project.

We completed our Snow Family bulletin board by making glittery snow flakes.
We concluded our week by conducting a science project on static electricity.  Each child was given their own comb which they used to comb their hair and then picked up small pieces of paper.  We then rubbed a balloon several times on our hair.  Ask your child what happened. The children continued the experiment with the balloons by putting them over the heater and watching them levitate over the fan from the heater.

We ate all our lunch!!!

Notes:

Please send in a complete change of clothes to school with your child.  Make sure it includes underwear, pants socks and shirts.

Please send in gloves, hats, and snow pants.  It is very cold in the playground.

Love,

Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara
