One Hundred Days of School Celebration!

Dear Parents,
We had so much fun this week celebrating our 100th day of school!  On Monday we started the day off by counting 100 popsicle sticks. Each child made a sticker chart by counting out 100 stickers by 10's and  adding them to their chart.  It took a lot of hard work to complete this task.

We continued our celebration by making ice cream.  The flavors the children chose to make were oreo cookie and chocolate chip ice cream.  They had so much fun making it and watching the ice cream maker churn the ingredients.  It was so funny watching the children walking over to the ice cream maker, pretending to watch it, but really sticking their fingers into it to taste it.  What was even funnier was the suprised look on their face when they turned around and saw me watching them.

We had three special visitors this week.  The librarian came to our class to read to the children. Some of their favorite stories were:
Bark, George, by Jules Feiffer, Harry's Box, by Angela McAsister, and The Bunnies are not in their Beds, Marisa Abina.

Francia, Ozi's babysitter, came into the class and read The Rainbow Fish,  in Spanish.  She also made  glittery rainbow fish with the children.  Thank you Francia for doing such a great job and making the day so special for the children.

On Thursday, Sparky Davis (Sparky's Puppets) performed an interactive puppet show with the children.  The room was filled with laughter.  Everyone had so much fun. Even the teachers couldn't stop laughing.

We also celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by reading, One fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and The Cat in the Hat. We then made   red and white Dr. Seuss hats, which the children wore all day.

We spent the rest of the week playing math games.  It was such a fun learning experience.
